Orbitron Installation

Before installing Orbitron and use it with UISS for Doppler correction with the Yaesu FT-847, you must first follow the "UISS" setup tutorial for this software.

1) Go to the "Links" area and download Orbitron.


2) Open "PlayOnLinux" et click on "Setup  a program".

3) Click on "Install an unlisted program" at the bottom of the window.

4) Click on "Next".

5) Select "Modify or update an existing application" then click on "Next".

6) Another window appears and propose to choose UISS software. Check the box "Display Virtual disks" at the bottom.

7) A new list is displayed with the virtual disks installed. Select "HAMRADIO" then click on "Next".

8) Don't check anything here and click on "Next".

9) In the next windows, select "32 bits windows installation" even if your Operating System is 64 bits.

10) Click on "Browse" button.

11) Select the Orbitron software setup you've already downloaded and click on "Open".

12) Click on "Next".

13) Wait some seconds...

14) Software installation begin. Choose your language then click on "OK".

15) Click on "Next".

16) Don't change the path of installation and click on "Next".

17) Uncheck the box "Screen saver Orbitron" then click on "Next".

18) In the next window, uncheck all boxes then click on "Next".

19) Click on "Install".

20) Uncheck the box "Launch Orbitron" then click on "Finish".

21) In the next window, select "Orbitron.exe" in the list to place a shortcut on your desktop then click on "Next".

22) Confirm the shortcut name by clicking on "Next".

23) Next step : Choose the first item on the list as below then click on "Next".

24) Setup is finished. Close the PlayOnLinux window.

25) Click on "Yes" to confirm exit.

26) Download the archive "Updates.tar.gz" that is located in the "Orbitron" folder of the  "Downloads" section of the website.

27) Go to the place where the file has been saved.

28) Right click on the archive and select "Extract here" in the menu.

29) Open the "Updates" folder which has just been extracted.

30) Inside the directory there are two folders. Leave this window opened and use the file explorer to open an other one.

31) In the new window, open the "PlayOnLinux's Virtuals drives" folder.

32) Then open the "HAMRADIO" directory.

33) Now open the "drive_c" folder.

34) Continue with opening the "Program Files" folder.

35) To finish, open the "Orbitron" folder.

36) Now copy the "Data" et "Lang" folders from to the Orbitron installation folder by dragging the icons from a window to the other with the mouse.

37) Run Orbitron by clicking on its icon.

38) The main window of Orbitron is now opened.

39) Click on the setup icon : 16.png

40) Now click on the "Worldmap" tab.

41) In the "Map picture" list, select "Coloured-HiRes".

42) Now Orbitron have a a high resolution woldmap and a better french translation than the original included by default in the software
